Players Selected for 1992, 1993 & 1994 Olympic Development Pool Teams for 2008/2009

Kentucky Youth Soccer Association would like to thank all of the players who attended the ODP try-outs for players born in 1992, 1993 & 1994. The coaches and evaluators came away extremely impressed with the overall quality of play and commitment shown by the players.

The quality of players was of a much higher level than seen over the last couple of years. This is kudos to each player’s development within the game and the support that the clubs are showing to this elite program. Every player that attended the try-outs had hopes and dreams of making it to the next level and with the recent success that Kentucky Youth Soccer Association ODP players have been experiencing at the regional and national level; each player that does attend only enhances the quality of the program.

Unfortunately, not every player makes it past the first hurdle, but by no means does this spell the end of what could be a bright future within the game. There are many success stories of players have failed at the first attempt, including players in the current Kentucky Youth Soccer Association system who eventually were determined enough to make the state pool and beyond.

One of the overall goals of Kentucky Youth Soccer Association is to provide the best opportunity for every youth soccer player to advance their soccer career and experience to the next level. If you were not successfully in gaining a spot on the state training pool please take time to reflect on the try-out and evaluate your own performance. If you require further feedback on how you can improve so that you can come back stronger next season, you as the player must contact the State Director of Coaching for some constructive feedback.

If you have not been successful remember that the opportunity is never taken away from you and that ODP & PDP staff are always observing soccer games to look for the best players within the state. Therefore work hard and stay focused on coming back next season to prove you are capable of playing at this level.

Kentucky Youth Soccer Association would like to congratulate all those players who were successful in earning a position on the state team, but also remind you that this is only the start of the process which requires a lot of your own time, commitment, dedication and work ethic in making the step beyond the training pool. You will be receiving al e-mail from Adrian Parrish in the next 36 hours so you can confirm your position in the pool.

 Olympic Development Program

The Olympic Development Program (ODP) is a national program to identify and develop youth players to represent their State, Region, and country in soccer competitions.

ODP teams are formed with each of the 55 US Youth Soccer State Associations and four regions, made up of the best players in the various age groups. At the state association level, pools of players are identified in each eligible age group, brought together as a team to develop their skill through training and competition. From the state pools and subsequent teams, players are identified for regional and national pools and teams.

Please click on the calendar link at the left for a full schedule for the team for the seasonal year.

It is the purpose of Kentucky Youth Soccer Association in conjunction with US Youth Soccer to run the Olympic Development Program for the reasons below:

1) to identify a pool of players in each age group from which a National Team will be selected for international competition;

2) to provide high-level training to benefit and enhance the development of players at all levels;

3) through the use of carefully selected and licensed coaches, to develop a mechanism for the exchange of ideas and curriculum to improve all levels of coaching.

Player Development Program

The Player Development Program is a Kentucky Youth Soccer state program for players not yet eligible to tryout for ODP.  The exclusive purpose of the PDP is to promote player development through training and playing opportunities. It will also keep more players involved with the program by giving them an insight to the state Olympic Development Program.

The PDP is strictly for players born in the 1997 birth year with all the activities taking place in the state of Kentucky except a tournament in Alabama.

After the try-outs in August the players selected will be invited to attend five in-state pool training sessions followed by an intra-state play day and a mini-camp to take place in Kentucky. This age group will not travel with the Olympic Development Program to regional events.  Please click on the calendar link at the left for a full schedule for the team for the seasonal year.  For pictures of last year's successful camp, please click here.
