Administrative Information
Club Pass Information:
KPL allows the use of club pass players in all of its games. A club pass player is defined as “a player registered with your club, but not this specific team, who is age eligible to be rostered with your team.” A KPL team may utilize a set number of club pass players for any game. It is usually defined as 1/5th of the total roster numbers with a maximum of five (5) total club pass players. These players must be included in the Game Day Card with a CP designation and count towards your “Gameday 18”.

Registration for the KPL and KPL Academy is done through the GotSport system. Applications are released each season for teams to apply.
The Kentucky Premier League offers age groups from 11U to 19U for both male and female athletes. Depending on the number of registered teams, the 18U and 19U divisions may be combined.
The KPL Academy offers age groups for 9U and 10U divisions for both male and female athletes.
The Kentucky Premier League will host as many as three (3) divisions per age group determined by the number of applicants. Generally, there will be two (2) divisions in the 14U and below age groups and only one (1) in the 15U and above age groups.

Kentucky Premier League teams are guaranteed a minimum of five (5) games and the maximum number of games will be determined by the number of teams accepted into the respective KPL Division.
For the KPL Academy, 9U teams are guaranteed a minimum of six (6) games through a collaborative scheduling process. 10U teams are guaranteed a minimum of five (5) games. The maximum number of games will be determined by the number of teams accepted into the respective KPL Academy Divisions.
The Kentucky Premier League and KPL Academy will be split into two seasons; Fall and Spring for the 9U – 14U Divisions. The Fall season will run from August to December and the Spring season will run from February to June. The 15U-19U Divisions will begin play in November of each year and should conclude their required scheduled games by June 15 of the following year.
Kentucky Premier League teams will be required to schedule games themselves. The KPL Commissioner will host a scheduling meeting to inform teams/clubs of any blacked-out dates and mandatory play dates along with information on best scheduling practices.
The KPL Academy Teams will also self-schedule all 9U and 10U games, meaning teams will be required to schedule games themselves. The KPL Commissioner will host a scheduling meeting to inform teams/clubs of blacked-out dates and mandatory play dates along with information on best scheduling practices. 9U and 10U teams will be responsible for coordinating referee assignments and payment of all fees directly with their local assignors.
Kentucky Premier League registration for 11U-14U will open in June of each year via the KYSA-provided online registration system and close three weeks after opening. Registration for the 15U-19U Divisions will open in September of each year via the KYSA-provided online registration system and close two weeks after opening.
KPL Academy registration will open in June of each year via the KYSA-provided online registration system and will close two weeks after opening.
The technical committee, KPL Commissioner, and Director of Competition will review all applications and begin to notify teams of acceptance into the Kentucky Premier League and/or KPL Academy about one (1) week after registration closes.
Yes, unless the teams participate in the US Youth Soccer National League or with express approval from the KPL Office.
GLC and U.S Youth Soccer National League requirements do not apply to the KPL Academy.
Kentucky Premier League results will not be used directly in the determination of open cup participation/seeding. However, KPL staff reserve the right to use results in a more determinative manner.
As of now, please note that KPL Academy results will not impact state tournament participation and seeding, as there are currently no 9U and 10U state tournaments in place.

In Memoriam
Keegan Michael Peterson will be forever remembered in the hearts of those within the Kentucky Youth Soccer Association and beyond. Born on September 29, 2011, in Louisville, Kentucky, Keegan’s life was a vibrant tapestry woven with joy, laughter, and an undeniable love for soccer. His untimely departure on July 23, 2024, following a tragic accident, has left a void in our community that echoes the profound impact he had on all who knew him.
Keegan was not only a cherished son and brother but also a spirited teammate on the SYSA Valor 2011 Boys team. His tenure from fall 2021 through spring 2024 saw him not only compete in the KSSL Premier league but also share memorable moments on the field with numerous players across Kentucky. Known for wearing his #11 jersey, Keegan played the game with unparalleled passion and a smile that could light up any stadium. His magnetic personality and the giant heart with which he competed made him a beloved figure, not just within his team but also at every league, tournament, and camp he attended, including multiple sessions at Centre College soccer camps.
We honor Keegan’s legacy not only as a player who wore his jersey with pride and joy but as a young individual whose life exemplified the power of inclusion, laughter, and relentless positivity. His love for the game, coupled with his ability to make every practice feel like a celebration, reminds us all of the impact one young soul can have. As we reflect on his life, let us carry forward his spirit of joy and camaraderie, ensuring that his legacy endures in every game played and every laugh shared on and off the field. Keegan’s journey may have been cut short, but his influence on the world of soccer and the lives he touched will be remembered always.
