Lexington, KY– Kentucky Youth Soccer Association (KYSA) is proud to announce that five of its players have earned spots on the Olympic Development Program (ODP) Midwest Regional Team for their respective age groups, underscoring the talent and hard work fostered within the state’s youth soccer programs.
Jack Sweeney, a dynamic presence on the field, has been named to the 2008 Boys Regional Team. Jack represents both Kentucky ODP and Kings Hammer ECNL 08, showcasing skills that have distinguished him among his peers. Jaxon Morgan, another standout athlete, will join the 2010 Boys Regional Team, bringing his exceptional play from both Kentucky ODP and Kings Hammer ECNL B10.
The talent continues with Eli Bennett-Toro, who has secured a place on the 2011 (Older) Regional Team. Eli’s performance with Kentucky ODP and Georgetown FC 2011 Boys has made him a player to watch. Tucker Dickerson was named to the 2012 (Younger) Regional Team. His commitment and skillful play at Kentucky ODP and Lexington Sporting Club 2012 Boys Performance Green have been pivotal to his selection.
Rounding out the roster of talented Kentucky athletes, Katelyn Puckett has been named to the 2012 (Older) Girls Regional Team. Playing for Kentucky ODP and MC Dynamo, Katelyn’s selection is notable as she is the first girl from Kentucky to be named to an ODP Midwest Regional team since 2022, highlighting her exceptional abilities and the growing strength of female athletes in the region.
“These five athletes exemplify the dedication and spirit that Kentucky Youth Soccer aims to instill in all our players. Their hard work, commitment to improvement, and passion for the game shine on the field. We are immensely proud of their achievements and are excited to see how they represent not only Kentucky but also the entire Midwest region,” said Derek Willis, Kentucky Youth Soccer Technical Director.
Further exciting news is that these Midwest Region teams will travel to the Omni Resort at Champions Gate Florida in January to compete against other ODP Regional Teams from the East, South, and West. This event will provide an invaluable experience for our players, offering them a platform to showcase their skills on a national stage and further their development in competitive soccer.
KYSA continues to be a nurturing ground for young athletes aspiring to elevate their game to regional and national levels. The association celebrates these players’ milestones and looks forward to their continued success in upcoming regional competitions.
